To have and to hold. Do y’all know I just found out what to have and to hold meant this summer?

I’ve been married 27 years, and I just found out this summer what to have and to hold mean. I take care of my grandmother.

My grandmother, 94 years old. And OK, yeah, I’m not saying I wasn’t 94. I take care of my grandmother and I came home on Sunday off the road, I like to get back on Sundays, and she calls and she says, Mark, that’s what she calls me, Mark, I said, yeah, what’s up, Granny? Something’s wrong with my washer.

I said, Granny, what’s wrong with it?

It ain’t working. I said, that’s my fault stupid question, okay. So because I don’t have patience, because I don’t have a whole lot of time I don’t want all these different people in and out of my 94-year-old grandmother’s home. I get right up and I run to this appliance store in Houston called Kunz.

I’m in Kunz because I’m just about to get a new one. I don’t want to have to mess around with this old thing. I’m about to get a new one. And so I’m in Kunz, and I’m looking, I’m pricing, and I call my granny. I say, granny, what color? is your washer.

My grandmother said, brown?

I’m looking in there, I see white, black, silver, I don’t see no brown.

I said, granny, how long y’all had that washer? She said, oh, we got it in 78.

I said, and it just broke? She said, no, it gave us a problem a time or two, but your pawpaw had it under warranty with Sears and Roebuck. 🤣🤣

Then my grandmother said, but why are you at Kahn’s Appliance Store? I said, granny, because you told me the washer broke. She said, no, ain’t nothing wrong with it. It just need to be fixed.

You around here thinking something wrong with her You around here thinking something wrong with him But according to my granite’s theology Ain’t nothing wrong with them They just need to be fixed!! 🔨

We are living in a generation That’s good at having And horrible at holding We good at having the world teach heaven you just got an iPhone saw a commercial bout I phone 73 and now you look at your phone “this old phone giving me problems lol

Yeah, to have and to hold. For better or worse. It’s a strong one here. It’s a better me. It’s a worse me. Yeah. And what’s crazy is it’s an indicator that worse is coming. And when worse comes, they don’t even RSVP. They just show up. Who is it? Worse. You ready? 🤣🤣

For richer or poor? For so long I thought that just meant money. What about the poor attitude? Poor work ethic? Poor understanding? You ever been with somebody that don’t understand nothing? Everybody understand you. You understood on your job. You understood that, church? But they don’t understand nothing.

In sickness and in health. But I looked at that. That was crazy, sickness and health, because it was like richer, poor. It was like better, worse. That’s good, bad. Rich or poor, you know, good, bad. Sickness, health, bad, good. Kind of made me wonder, do y’all think when you get married, you get married sick?

I just told you it’s surgery. And you spend the rest of your life trying to get well, rehabbing. Yeah, you gotta rehab in marriage. Yeah, I can tell some of y’all, cause some of y’all are like, man, he skipped a bunch of them, I did. It was on purpose, it was by design.

Because I remember this one girl, when I was out here doing the show one time, she gonna tell me, she gonna say, oh, you didn’t say, you know, to be with just one person only.

Forsake all others. I said, yeah, I left that out, because I knew y’all wouldn’t receive it well. But forsake all those, ain’t just talking about no side piece because that’s the case with it, it said forsake all side pieces. It say forsake all others. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know some of your family. Yeah. Yeah, some of your sororities and fraternities. See, y’all don’t want me to talk about this. Some of your bosses, yeah, yeah. Some of your pastors, okay, okay, okay, all right. Yeah, okay, okay, okay. I’m going too far, too far, too far.
